Statement by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Korea on Claims of Ceasefire Negotiations with the United States

.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Korea denies reports by some South Korean media claiming that ceasefire negotiations with the United States have begun, and, in order to promote an accurate understanding among public opinion in the Republic of Korea, hereby states the following:

In recent days, messages from the United States, conveyed through certain friendly countries, have been received requesting negotiations aimed at ending the war. In response, our government has acted appropriately in accordance with its principled positions.

In the course of this response, it has been firmly warned that any infringement upon Iran’s critical infrastructure would lead to serious consequences. In particular, it has been made clear that any attack on energy infrastructure would be met with a decisive, immediate, and effective response by Iran’s armed forces.

Furthermore, the Embassy clearly states that, over the past 24 days since the start of this imposed war, no negotiations or dialogue whatsoever have taken place with the United States. It is also reiterated that there has been no change in the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz or the conditions for ending the war.

The dissemination of such false information is intended to mislead market participants and artificially influence market conditions. Behind these actions are speculative actors linked to the sources of such information, who are profiting illicitly on the scale of billions of dollars in the energy and stock markets.

According to confirmed information, these speculative actors were actively involved in crude oil transactions amounting to millions of barrels within minutes before and after the spread of this false information.
