On October 19, 2026, Ahmad Erfanian, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to South Korea, met with Kwak Young-kil, President of AJU Press, to discuss ways to expand media cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, the AJU Press president referred to Iran’s rich historical and cultural heritage and emphasized the importance of strengthening the voice of Asian media internationally and bringing greater attention to narratives that receive less coverage in Western media. He also outlined the capabilities of AJU Press, which employs approximately 250 staff members and publishes news in five languages: Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese. In addition to its print publications, the organization operates digital platforms, podcasts, and a YouTube channel.
Kwak Young-kil expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Iranian media outlets, particularly through collaboration with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Welcoming the proposal, the Iranian Ambassador expressed the Embassy’s readiness to facilitate media cooperation. He also stated that he would seek to contact Iranian media organizations and encourage them to share their English-language news output with AJU Press, enabling the Korean news agency to access news and developments in Iran directly from first-hand sources.
