Protest Rally Held in Seoul in Response to U.S. and Israeli Military Aggression Against Iran
.
The Korean Civil Coalition, led by the “Self-Reliant Solidarity Union for Peace and Korean Reunification” (자주통일평화연대), held a press conference on March 1, 2026, in front of the United States Embassy in Seoul to share their views on the recent developments concerning Iran. The event, attended by representatives of civil society and peace organizations, featured speakers expressing concerns over the security and humanitarian consequences of recent tensions. They emphasized the need for all parties to adhere to the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law. At the conclusion, a joint statement was read condemning the actions of the U.S. and Israel, which, in pursuit of their political interests, endanger the lives of people in Iran and across the Middle East and threaten the global economy. The groups further stressed that claims of a nuclear and missile threat were merely a misleading pretext to justify the aggression against Iran. They noted that the nuclear agreement, reached with the participation of Europe, the U.S., and Iran, had been unilaterally violated by Donald Trump, a move that contributed to the escalation of the current crisis. In such circumstances, allegations of a threat from Iran are unfounded. The Param Human Rights Network also referenced reports of an attack on an all-girls elementary school in southern Iran, allegedly resulting in the deaths of more than 80 students, noting that this tragedy once again demonstrates that women and children are the primary victims of war and collective violence. Palestinian activists attending the rally also criticized the U.S. and Israel. A member of the Solidarity for Palestinian Peace stated: “When violent actions against children in Gaza go unaccounted for, it is not surprising that similar attacks occur elsewhere in the region. What has happened today in Iran is a continuation of the same pattern previously observed in Palestine.”
