Members of the Iran-Korea Council met with Ahmad Erfanian, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Korea, at the Iranian Embassy in Seoul to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as expand cultural and sports exchanges between the two countries.

Chang Jong-bae, Chairman of the Council and former Minister of Justice of the Republic of Korea, referred to the approximately 3,000 Korean companies that had previously conducted business with Iran and expressed hope that, with the improvement of conditions, opportunities would emerge to resume and expand their cooperation with Iran. He also proposed exploring ways to facilitate visa issuance for Korean companies that do not yet have business partners in Iran. Under this proposal, the Council would introduce and review applicants in accordance with relevant regulations, enabling companies to visit Iran and assess the country's market potential.

Jang, Secretary-General of the Iran-Korea Council, highlighted the importance of expanding cultural and sports cooperation in light of the current political circumstances. He expressed the Council's readiness to cooperate with the Embassy on initiatives such as film screenings and cultural events. He also stressed the importance of introducing the Council's activities and potential to relevant Korean authorities and institutions.

Song, former Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Iran and a Council member, emphasized the importance of expanding cultural and cinematic cooperation between the two countries. He expressed hope that, as conditions improve in the future, a joint film project could be implemented and unveiled as a shared initiative contributing to stronger cultural ties between Iran and the Republic of Korea.

The Iran-Korea Council was established in 2020 by 15 members, who provided the initial capital from their personal funds, with the aim of strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries.
